The shore excursions offered by George’s Taxi are private and customized to the passengers’ requests. This means you will have your own driver and vehicle. We pick you up from the pier or wherever you wish. You have the option of adding a guide for a more personal tour.
You can’t compare our tour to the tours offered by the cruise line simply because we give you the most attention and cater to your very specific needs. We are knowledgeable, experienced, courteous, prompt, and reliable. We will meet you at your choice of place to embark on a tour of our cities and show you the main attractions and hidden jewels known only to us.
As you can expect, some spots are more time-consuming than others. With this in mind, there is no set time for each highlight. You will have plenty of time to take photos of the landmarks and we watch how the tour progresses at each landmark and adjust the tour accordingly.
For those of you who are booking private tours for the first time, perhaps a little clarification would help. A tour driver and a tour guide are not the same. It is to your advantage when booking a private tour to be sure that you understand the difference and know in advance what you are paying for. A tour guide has a license, usually issued by the state / country. He or she has attended school to learn all about the sites you will see. A guide is permitted to go into the historical sites with you and tell you about the history. A tour driver is not licensed, has not attended “guide” school, and is not permitted inside the site to tell you about the history. Many drivers are just as well versed in the area history as the guides. The difference of course is that they have to tell you the facts before you go inside.
You’ll be met at the airport upon arrival of aircraft as you specified. After collecting your luggage and clearing customs, you’ll be routed to the public lounge (Arrival Area) where throngs of people wait for passengers to come out. Many people will be holding signs and also your driver will be there posting your name. That’s how you identify your driver. Make sure to have my phone number with you, you never know what can happen in a crowded and chaotic airport! Normally it takes about 30-40 minutes from the time when the plane lands until you actually get to the public lounge. If you see that it will take longer, for example if your luggage is lost or simply takes it a long time to come out, please call us from on the phone or ask the custom officer to let you come out for a second to tell your driver you’ll be late. If you miss your flight or you experience a long delay, please contact us at the numbers provided. If we do not hear from you, you may be charged for the time we have to wait for you at the airport. If you miss your flight or your flight was cancelled and we do not hear from you, you will be charged for the full amount of your transfer.
There are 2 different terminals where the cruise ships dock (A main gate and B gate). When cruise ships arrive at B, the port authorities usually provide a shuttle bus to take you to A. Do not use the bus (unless terminal is closed for some reason). Please exit at the gate where the cruise ship docks. We will meet you outside the cruise terminal (once you walk through it) holding a sign with your name on.
It surely isn’t a problem to meet our clients at their hotel, though it’s easier if they’re staying in a small hotel rather than a big one. The concierges of the small hotels know each and every one of their guests so when we go in and ask for our clients they have no problem addressing us to them. That doesn’t always work when our clients stay in a big hotel. In this case it’s a lot easier for the clients to spot us than it is for us to spot them. The big hotel usually have some space outside the door where we can park our car so when I get to the hotel first we go to the concierge and ask for our clients and he calls them in
Arriving at the station, just as you come down from the train, you’ll see a person with a sign with your name right on the platform where the train pulls in.
Tips in Greece are not mandatory but it’s customary to give them in proportion to the quality of the service received.
